“Easter Charade”

Hitchens’ commentary on the Terri Schiavo case in 2005. He makes the very strong (some may say offensive) statement about the ridiculousness of those arguing for keeping Terri on life support, “Presiding from a distance is a nodding, senile pope whose church may possibly want to change the subject from its indulgence of the rape and torture of real-life children.”  Hitchens…notorious atheist…guess we know where he stands.

Very funny opening, “THE IMMEDIATE CRISIS has apparently passed. But all through Easter Sunday, one had to be alert to the possibility that, at any moment, the late and long-dead Terri Schiavo would receive the stigmata on both palms and both feet and be wafted across the Florida strait, borne up by wonder-working dolphins, to be united in eternal bliss with the man-child Elián González.” …almost worthy of The Daily Show.

New Learning: Hilariously, “Catholic fundamentalist” William Donahue argues against the courts protecting Terri Schiavo, “…but only because it might set a precedent for the rescue of living people on Death Row.”

New Word: casuistry = the use of clever but unsound reasoning

Very creepy Sarah Palin blog announcing her as keynote speaker the 2013 “Terri Schiavo Love & Hope Network Gala Awards”:
